ThunderWeb @ Windows Live SpacesDo yourself a favour and visit www.god-of-thunder.com now, or I'll come and visit with you! You can also find me on MySpace @ myspace.com/the_god_of_thunder. It's all gravy!
September 24 Black Like SundayI hate Sundays and I love them.
I hate them because they are so unutterably dull.
I love them because I don't have to work.
I could go to church and hang out there, but that would be as to surround me with very fanatical individuals who believe in something. I'm not about to do that. I don't believe in God, per se. Besides, God is everywhere, I see no reason to go out of doors. If He wants me, He knows where I am ;-)
Yes, The Irreverent God of Thunder, that's me.
I hate Sundays because I can think of nothing better to do with my time than sit in front of the bloody computer writing this crap, waiting for the Moto GP race to come on. What a pathetic life I lead?!
But, it is all I have. September 04 Steve IrwinSad news from Australia today with the freaky death of the unique celebrity conservationist.
Irwin died as he had lived and his loss is a great one.
His unusual style brought the natural world to a vast audience, and raised issues that may otherwise have passed many by, to a greater public awareness. Ironically, Irwin died from the barb of a Stingray, a normally placid animal that rarely kills humans, rather than in the jaws of a croc, or as a result of the bite of a poisonous snake.
The world will be a much less interesting place from today. September 02 Church tongue...I'm not a big fan of Charlotte Church.
In fact, I'd go as far as to say that, the preceeding statement was a little bit of an understatement. Quite a lot of an understatement, actually.
But, last night, I figured that anything that had been slagged off by critics, before it had even hit the airwaves, to such an extent that it was just a sparrow's fart away from being junked, must have some watchability, even if it is only for its rubbernecker value.
And you know what?
I didn't hate it. Not even hardly.
As the song says: 'You is what you am, you ain't what you're not'
And the young lass was actually not bad. It wasn't slick, well-oiled, or even professional at times, but she came across as very genuine, honest and fun. And that's even taking its excessive Welshness into account. She will get better at the actual technical presenter bits and, as long as she doesn't lose the essence of what makes her Charlotte Church, she could become quite watchable and even give big dog, Jonathon Ross, a bit of a run for his money.
And thank God that she's got some curves! I'm fed up with watching all these emaciated stick insects try to out-vomit Victoria Beckham to the title of Most Skeletal Skank In The Public Eye. Women should be woman-shaped, not have the figure of an eleven year old boy, or an ironing board. Why would anyone want to look like a Biafran famine victim? Beats me. August 31 My Space...OK, so My Space is the biggest of the current online communities dedicated to giving anyone with internet access a place to call cyberhome.
It has around 6 million users.
I finally investigated it yesterday.
I cannot imagine why it is so popular.
It is user-unfriendly in the extreme, peculiarly limited, complicated to set-up and use, quite unpleasant aesthetically, and plainly inferior to other options.
Then again, BetaMax was far superior to VHS, BSB's D-MAC transmissions were way better than Sky's PAL, Windows is but a pale imitation of MAC OS, Netscape once ruled the internet, as did Yahoo, and we all know how each of those turn(ed) out.
Windows Live Spaces, even in spite of its idiosyncracies and quirks, is a much easier system to use, more user-friendly, and allows you to do so much more with a great deal less effort. Given its connections with MSN, you would have imagined it to be the most widely used of the 'personal space' websites, yet it isn't; it's not even close. As much as I may bitch about it, I would much rather use it than MySpace, and shall probably continue to do so. But, so many more people use MySpace that I feel that I must, at the very least, have a presence there too.
Ultimately, which will prevail is anyone's guess. Is there room for Windows Live Spaces and MySpace, or will users of one gradually abandon it for the other? Probably. The best does not usually win out over the most popular.
